Eddy Current Tensioning ClutchesTensioning Clutches are a simple way to provide controlled tension during a wind-up operation. As the diameter of a wind-up spool increases, the Tensioning Clutch provides torque to offset the decrease in the spool RPM. Features:
Benefits:
Applications:Tensioning Clutches typically are used for spooling or winding very fine wire, plastic film, tapes or textiles.
The Eddy Current devices use twin magnet disks, but maximum torque position is opposite of a Hysteresis disk. Magnetic field strength is high when “unlike” poles are on opposite sides of the disk. Conversely, magnetic field strength is low when similar poles are opposite.
